Wallaby (Notamacropus)

Wallabies reach an average body length 70-80 cm, tail length of 60 to 70 centimeters and a weight of about 12 to 20 kilograms, the males are significantly heavier than the females. Two species, the Derby and the Parmawallaby, but are much smaller and lighter. The fur is usually brown or gray in color, some species have stripes on the back or face or other patterns available. Like most kangaroos the hind legs are longer and stronger than the front legs. The long, muscular tail is used in the wide leaps to maintain balance while browsing, it is used as a support.

Wallabies inhabit the northern, eastern and southern coastal regions of Australia. Due to their small size, they occupy more shrub cover and wooded area than the large species.

Like all kangaroos are herbivores, feeding on buds, ferns, bark, grasses, herbs and leaves. If there is little rain, they chew juicy roots to quench your thirst.
