Opossum (Didelphia virginiana)

description of the animal

Opossum (Didelphia virginiana)

Information:

The Opossum (Didelphia virginiana) can be found in varied sizes. Their fur is grayish and white. Their furless tail can be used to carry little objects or also to hang onto some things like tree branches. Their feet are black and look like they would wear tiny gloves. Although they look kind of like rats, they are in fact the biggest opossums.

They are found especially in North America were they seem to raid bin bags or trash barrels for food. Because of that many of them are seen in town. Moreover they prefer wet lands more than dry ones.

The Opossum is not very picky about its food. In fact it eats about everything ranging from plants to fruits, insects or other smaller animals.
