Peacock (Pavo)

description of the animal

Peacock (Pavo)

The Peacock (Pavo) has a very beautiful feathering which stands out very much and is respected and liked for that matter. The green, blue, gold and violet colours blend together wonderfully and results in an outstanding look. But these long gorgeous feathers are limited to the males of this breed because the females lack this long feathering.

The Peacock can be found in some parts of the world, for example India, but most of them live now in zoos only.

Peacocks eat plants and also insects, amphibians or little reptiles. They really like to eat flowers, seeds or corn. The males use their huge feathers primarily to impress the female Peacocks during the mating season or scare other males away.
